Sergei Prokofiev composes his Fifth Symphony
Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) was a Ukrainian-born Russian composer who was known as one who mastered numerous musical genres and excelled in every one of them. Therefore, he became one of the most admired composers of the 20th century. In 1944, Prokofiev moved to an estate outside of Moscow, to compose his Fifth Symphony (Op. 100) which would turn out to be his most successful. It was overwhelmingly received, but shortly afterwards, Sergei suffered a concussion as a result of a fall, from which he never really recovered and which also severely lowered his productivity in later years.

Peron was an argentinian soldier and politician, who was elected three times as president of Argentina, from 1946 to 1955 (two straight terms) and from 1973 to 1974. Peron and his wife were very popular ammong the Argentinians, mainly because of their efforts to eliminate poverty and dignify labour.
